How do I move around?
Press and hold anywhere to dive in, and slide your finger to steer. Drag to move, pinch or double-tap to zoom, and tap with two fingers to zoom out. Tap the picture to hide the controls; they come back when you stop.
Where are the famous places?
Tap Places at the bottom of the screen: every Tour plate, today's dive and your bookmarks, as pictures. Tap one to fly there. Surprise me (the dice) flies somewhere new, and Find an island (the target) flies to the nearest hidden miniature Mandelbrot set.
How does Autopilot work?
Tap the play button at the top and Abyme explores on its own. While it flies, you can change its speed (½×, 1×, 2×), skip to the next place or stop it. Touching the picture takes over.
How deep can I go for free?
The Mandelbrot and Julia sets are free down to 1050× — far past the point where ordinary arithmetic gives out. Abyme Pro removes the floor: 101000× and beyond.
What is the Julia link?
Tap Julia at the bottom of the screen. A small Julia set appears; drag the crosshair over the Mandelbrot set and watch it change shape — connected inside the set, scattered into dust outside it.
How do I make a zoom movie or a wallpaper?
Tap Share, then Make a zoom movie, or open the Studio tab. Movies and stills are rendered on your device; deep 4K movies can take a while, and the Studio shows an estimate. To use a still as your wallpaper, save it to Photos, open it there, tap Share and choose “Use as Wallpaper”.
Someone sent me a link and it opened this website
With Abyme installed, the link opens the app and flies to the shared place. If it opened here instead, tap Open in Abyme on the page.
I bought Abyme Pro but it isn't unlocked
Open Settings (the gear on the Tour tab) and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy it.
Comfort and accessibility
Palette cycling is capped so no region flickers more than three times a second; Reduce flashing in Settings halves that again. Settings also has Left-handed controls, which mirror the controls, and a switch for haptics. Abyme follows your Reduce Motion, Dynamic Type and VoiceOver settings.
